messystories.com is operated by Messy Stories LLC, an Ohio limited liability company (“Messy Stories”, “we”, “us”). By using this site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. We may update these terms from time to time; the date above always reflects the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Using the site

You’re welcome to browse, read, watch, share links to, and discuss anything we publish. You agree not to scrape, bulk-download, or republish our pages or articles elsewhere; not to use the site to harass or identify the people whose stories are told here; and not to interfere with the site’s operation. The site is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children under 13.

Content & entertainment disclaimer

Messy Stories shares real-life stories for entertainment and discussion. Stories are told from the storyteller’s perspective; they may be dramatized, summarized, anonymized, or edited, and details may be changed to protect the people involved. We don’t independently verify every claim a storyteller makes, and a story appearing here is not an assertion by us that every detail is true. Nothing on this site is legal, medical, financial, or professional advice. Our “takes” are personal opinions.

Corrections

If you are the subject of a story and believe something is materially wrong, or you want identifying details removed, email [email protected] — we review every request and act on the reasonable ones quickly. Copyright concerns have their own process on our DMCA page.

Submissions

If you submit a story, you confirm you’re 18+, that it’s your story or you have permission to share it, and that you’ve removed identifying details of others. By submitting, you grant us permission to use, edit, and publish it across Messy Stories and Messy Talks. You keep ownership of your story; the permission you give us is non-exclusive.

Intellectual property

Original writing, branding, and design on this site belong to Messy Stories LLC. Embedded videos remain the property of their respective owners and are shown via YouTube’s embed player. Storyteller credits identify the original narrator wherever we have one to name.

Advertising & third-party links

This site is supported by advertising (including Google AdSense) and links to third-party sites and services (YouTube, Patreon, Spotify, and others). Ads are served by third parties; we don’t endorse advertised products, and we’re not responsible for third-party sites’ content or policies. How advertising cookies work here is covered in our privacy policy.

No warranties; limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is.” We don’t promise it will always be available, error-free, or that any particular story will stay published. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Messy Stories LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, and our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to $100. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute belongs in the state or federal courts located in Ohio.
